Welcome to Cal Nield. Cognitive Analytic Therapist
If you have found this site maybe you are thinking of seeking professional help for an emotional problem, or for difficulties that you are experiencing in your relationship with others.
There are many reasons why people seek therapy. For some it may be that they are curious to learn more about themselves and they want space in busy life to reflect on things. But for others it may feel more pressing.
You may be experiencing a crisis of some sort perhaps due to an immediate event or situation, and need help to deal with things; or you may have difficulties of a longer term nature and perhaps see patterns which seem to repeat in your relationships and find yourself asking 'why has this happened again', or 'why am I feeling depressed again'. There may be a trauma in the past which you feel is still impacting on you today.
I hope this website gives you some useful information to help you to make your decision. It tells you a little bit about my professional background, and what kind of therapy I am qualified in. I mainly offer Cognitive Analytic Therapy, but also offer shorter term (6-8 sessions) supportive counselling. I have a medical speciality in working with those who have diabetes and there is some information on this within the site.
There are many different kinds of therapy available and I can help in thinking about what kind of therapy might be most helpful for you.
The website also gives information about what you can expect from therapy.
Cognitive Analytic Therapy requires weekly attendance of sessions, each lasting 50 minutes, usually for 16 weeks. This is a considerable commitment which needs thinking about when you are exploring the possibilites for help.
It is important to think about the financial implications too, and fees are outlined at the end.
